"OUR POD": Our Casita Page

Welcome to "OUR POD". This page contains information on our new Casita travel trailer. We picked it up from the Casita enterprises factory in Rice, Texas on November 20th, 2005. Our trip to Rice TX to pick up our Casita was planned like a military operation.

The Maiden Voyage

At first, I'd like to extend my thanks to all the Casita folks on the Casita Club web page for the information and ideas that they share so freely. Because of their information, our trip went as smooth as silk -- they even (apparently} arranged for great weather for the whole trip.

We planned to use my wife's Ford E157 Econoline van as a tow vehicle; it has lots storage space. From the Casita Club pages we decided to purchase a Sharp Toaster/Microwave from Wal-Mart and have it dellvered to the Fort Worth Wal-Mart for us. We picked it up on our way through. We also bought our Honda Eu2000i generator from Ball XXX and ahve it shipped directly to Dick Morris' desk in Rice. He didn't appreciate it being under his desk for a few weeks, but he was a sport about it.

Our trip down was fun, we got to visit Roswell (no aliens in sight!) and swing through Abilene. While at the factory, Dick suggested we visit the Post Street Bakery and the Russell Stover factory (not just a factory outlet). The best local motel, where we stayed two nights until we took delivery of our Casita, is a "No Pets" establishment, but Casita buyers get the VIP treatment there, even with two grown Irish Setters.
